Justin Bieber: The Power of Video.

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Who is Justin Bieber? Chances are that you’re very familiar with this young singing idol. But where did this 15 year old sensation come from?

Justinpic 300x180 Justin Bieber: The Power of Video.
Justin grew up in Stratford Ontario. He began singing about three years ago and entered into a local signing contest.  Even though many of the other competitors were involved in signing lessons, vocal coaches and such, Justin who had none of those things won second place and 12 years old!

He wanted to share his contest performance with his friends and relatives and so he started uploading the contest videos to YouTube.  What he wasn’t expecting is that other people saw the videos as well and really liked them!  His YouTube subscriptions grew at a rapid pace.  Then his current manager found the videos on YouTube.  He contacted the family and the rest, as they say, is history.

  • Justin has become an internationally known star and had the #1 most subscribed channel of all time on YouTube.
  • All of this happened with the innocent act of uploading a few videos.

Obviously there’s more to this story than I’ve just outlined.  There was clearly a market waiting for a young talent like Justin.

When it comes to your business, your product, your service, is there a market waiting that hasn’t discovered you yet?  What could happen if you engaged in a web video marketing campaign, unlike Justin’s innocent video uploads?

Some of you will read the story of Justin Bieber and think that only happens to someone else.  Others of you will get it!

I really hope you’re one of the ones “who get it” and begin to use the power of video marketing for your business.

With all of the changes going on at Google these days…

…it’s hard to keep up with what’s going on in the Search Engine Results Pages.

I use a lot of video for my clients and if you read my recent post: “Web Video Marketing: Easy To Do, and It Works!”
you will understand why I might be a little concerned when I heard that Google isn’t ranking video like they were.  There’s been a lot of controversy over how Google ranks video with lots of people complaining about an unfair advantage to video.  In my view there’s no unfair advantage…just use it too!

So to put any doubt to bed (at least for now), that video is still getting great rankings in the search results, here are a couple of examples that I loaded for one of my clients just last night.  As you can see we occupy most or all of the top 4 listings for each of the search terms.

What I have noticed is that there are no pictures of the videos in the results, just the text listings.  I’ve also noticed that YouTube isn’t getting the rankings.  Consistently I’m finding these sites to rank well; Dailymotion, Metacafe, and Kendin Coş video search engine, and Veoh.  You’ll also notice in the examples that Digg ranked well.

As always you’re welome to contact me with questions about this or any SEO strategy or technique noted on my site.

Video marketing continues to be one of the most effective online marketing techniques available.sony video camera 300x300 Web Video Marketing: Easy To Do, and It Works!

If you’re a client of Web Traffic Solutions then you likely understand the value of web video and have your own highly optimized YouTube channel and some other video sharing site accounts. You don’t have to be another Steven Spielberg to make video work for you.

Why It Works
There are several reasons why video is so effective but let’s start with the basic fact that people love watching online video.  If they weren’t watching it wouldn’t work.  Because people like video, Google ranks video results with priority in their search results.  So what that means is that  a properly optimized video, (keyword rich title, keyword tags, keyword description), can fairly easily out rank some pretty hefty sights in the search engines.

As an added bonus, several of the video sharing sites, including YouTube, will allow a direct link to your website from your video description, just place your hyperlink in the description like this; http://webtrafficsolutions.ca/web-video

So what do you make a video about?
Let your imagination loose.  Do a little research and find out what your customers are interested in.

Here are some thought starters;

  • Product advertisement
  • Welcome to My Website Video
  • Product usage instructions.
  • Purchase advice.
  • Product comparisons.

You can make videos from live recording, compiling still shot images into a slideshow with background music and perhaps narration, or even a Powerpoint presentation.

Here are the tools I use;

Camera; Sony mini DV. Any model that uses Mini DV tapes will work just fine.  You don’t need HD however the mini HD cameras like the Flip digital  work quite well.

Editing Software; Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9

Video Converter; IM Too FLV Converter

Video Storage; Amazon S3

It takes a little time to get used to making online video but it’s fun and definitely worth the investment.

Have Fun with this!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Web videos are becoming more and more important in the world of the website marketing process.  Helping to promote your products and pre-sell the customer in addition to increasing brand recognition and buzz are just a few of the benefits to using web video.

Web Video is something that internet marketers have been using as a marketing tool for a few years now, long before Time magazine and others discovered that self-generated videos were having a positive effect on marketing results. Online marketers have been using video to sell and promote products on the web since it’s cost effective, and very simple to do.
They’ve learned that the effectiveness of immediate connection with the visitor is far superior and produces much better results than pictures and text.

Marketers, both on and offline, have understood for years that building a solid relationship with your clients is vital to boosting sales.  Offline marketers are now discovering what their online counterparts have know all along; video is a simple and effective way to make this connection.

The future of online marketing for both online and offline brick and mortar businesses, is online web video. If you’re not taking advantage of this marketing tool, you should seriously consider it, for the alternative is to be left behind.
The technology is moving very quickly, and already, online video for a desktop computer is fighting for air time with a competitior, web mobile.  Yes people are accessing the internet on their hand held mobile devices such as the iPhone, and they are watching video.

This isn’t a fad…don’t miss your opportunity.

The Dealer’s Edge reported today that Auto Trader.com estmates that 25% of all U.S. auto dealers now use online video.  That’s a pretty hefty figure when you consider that there are almost 21,000 new car dealers in the U.S.

Larry Pryg, national marketing and ad manager for GM’s certified-used auto business said, “Web Video is Exploding”.
This is largely because it can be created inexpensively, quickly, and results can be measured easily.

“Watch this Video!”

When it comes to Used Cars, websites with video are twice as likely to generate calls or emails from shoppers to dealers than ones without.

Most auto dealers are running some type of video on their own sites.  The videos generally consist of customer testimonials or personal introductions from the dealer.

Some dealers however have figured out that video can be a method to capture customer leads as well.

When a used car customer calls the dealership to ask questions about a used vehicle, the salesperson writes down the questions, then asks the customer if they would like him to send them an email link to an online video, showing the vehicle, and answering the specific questions of the customer.

Within 20 minutes, the customer receives an email with a link and a password to access the video. The customer gets the information that he or she wanted, and the dealership has captured the customer’s email address for follow up.

Dealerships that use this technique reported that an average of 50% of the customers who are sent an online video, come in and buy a car.

Although the cost to produce a professional online video can be around $80.00 per car, with today’s technologies it takes very little for a dealership to produce these inhouse.

The savings are definately much better than $2,000. for a 30 second TV spot, and in many cases much more effective.
